Srinagar, Sept 20: In its endeavour to provide succour to September 2014 deluge victims, Mother Helpage, a non-governmental organization, donated a house to one of the victim families in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The house, constructed at the cost of Rs 7,30,000, was handed over to widow of Lateef Ahmad Bhat of Batapora, Anantnag in presence of respectables of the area.
The family, consisting of the widow and her five daughters, have no permanent source of income and they lost the house in the last year’s devastating floods. “It was on the recommendations of the locals we took the initiative to construct the house. The family lives in extreme poverty,” said Program Manager Mother Helpage Zubar Ahmad Dagga. “Mother Helpage will continue to support people in need in the future,” he added.
Hailing the initiative, locals of the area said they hope Mother Helpage will continue supporting such destitute families in future also. Mother Helpage has also donated a state-of-art intensive care unit to the Bone and Joints Hospital Srinagar.
