Mortal remains of soldier consigned to flames

HARIDWAR: The last rites of Army jawan Dipak Nainwal, who was injured during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district last month and died later, were performed with full State honours today.

Naik Deepak Nainwal, who hailed from Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, succumbed to injuries recently.

The funeral pyre was lit by his three-year-old son Bablu.

Earlier, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat paid homage to the slain soldier by laying a wreath on his body at his Harrawala residence in Dehradun. He saluted the brave soldier for making the supreme sacrifice for the country and offered to give a Government job to one of his dependents as per his or her educational qualifications. (AGENCIES)
