SRINAGAR, Apr 5: The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Department of Health & Medical Education (H&ME) today jointly held the National Review Meeting for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025 here, focusing on medical preparedness, coordination, and emergency response for the annual pilgrimage.
The meeting brought together senior officials, healthcare experts, and representatives from over a dozen states and premier medical institutions to assess past experiences and streamline medical services for the forthcoming Yatra.
Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Secretary, H&ME delivered the keynote address as chief guest.
He underscored the importance of a robust healthcare system for pilgrims and called for stricter protocols in issuing Compulsory Health Certificates, ensuring they are granted only after a thorough medical assessment to help reduce morbidity and mortality.
He appreciated the consistent deputation of medical staff by states and institutions in past yatras and urged continued support for 2025, particularly stressing the need for Cardiologists, Respiratory Physicians and Anesthetists.
The event also saw the unveiling of the SANJY 2025 Yatra Booklet and distribution of certificates of appreciation to participating states and institutions.
Participants included representatives from Delhi, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Telangana, Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and West Bengal. Leading institutions such as AIIMS, New Delhi, Raipur, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Bhopal, Rishikesh, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, Banaras Hindu University Medical College, RML Hospital, LHMC, Safdarjung Hospital, and Aligarh Muslim University Medical College also took part.
From J&K, SKIMS Medical College and Government Medical Colleges of Jammu, Srinagar and Anantnag were represented.
Dr L. Swasticharan, Additional DDG & Director EMR, MoHFW, presented a detailed overview of Emergency Medical Response strategies. Dr. Sujata Chaudhary, Additional Director General, MoHFW, highlighted national-level coordination efforts to enhance health response mechanisms for SANJY.
