Modi’s stunning victory- Now tasks ahead

Amit Kushari
After the exit polls it was quite obvious that NDA was coming to power. Most of the polls indicated that the NDA figure would be anywhere between 260-290, quite sufficient for forming the Government. Only one agency indicated (Today’s Chanakya) that NDA tally would be 340 and Congress would come down to the tally of 56. The predictions of Chanakya could not be ruled out as laughable because during the November 2013 state elections only this agency had predicted all the assembly results most accurately compared to all other agencies. Only Chanakya had predicted that AAP could get 30 seats in Delhi Assembly whereas every one else put the figure between 10 and 18. Actually AAP had scored 28 in Delhi. Now, this time also Chanakya has proved itself to be the most correct — NDA getting 337 and Congress going down to its lowest ever tally of 44. This was beyond the expectations of even the hard core BJP supporters. Some of the results are really stunning, indeed. Dalit Ki Beti, Behen Mayawati has scored a big zero and Mulayam has got just 5, with Nitish Kumar scoring only 2 and Lalu Yadav scoring only 5!
What happened to the Dalits and Yadavs, Jatavs and Kurmis? Have they migrated wholesale to take shelter with Narendra Modi deserting their old habitats ? Narendra Modi seems to have removed all the caste barriers of Hindu society, uniting them like never before. This must be shocking for all our pseudo-secular political parties like Congress, SP,BSP, JDU, RJD who have always done electoral business by dividing Hindus on caste lines and by scaring the Muslims by painting gory pictures of the BJP and other NDA parties. It seems now the Hindus have been able to call their bluff. They have understood that these so-called secular parties were only dividing Muslims from Hindus and were playing one caste against another. The Hindus have now understood that these are the real communal parties and they should be shunned by  one and all.
Unfortunately the Muslims have not yet seen through their game and they continue to fear and disbelieve BJP and Narendra Modi. Only 9% of the Muslims have voted for NDA in the whole of India whereas 41% of the Hindus have voted for NDA (60% in mainland/heartland of India and 30% in coastal India). This dichotomy and polarisation in electoral aspirations between Hindus and Muslims is most unfortunate and it would be the first and foremost task of Narendra Modi to remove this huge emotional wall between Hindus and Muslims as exhibited in their voting preferences. This situation is dangerous for India and not at all good for rapid progress. The Muslims should be taken into the mainstream with love and affection. Their fears and apprehensions must be removed. The security of the minorities can be ensured only if the majority community gives them a kind helping hand and a guarantee of no discrimination and no harassment. On the other hand minorities should not appear to be at loggerheads with the majority thwarting all their aspirations through courts, agitations and other vexatious means. For example, if Hindus want to construct a temple at the perceived birth place of Lord Ram, Muslims should co-operate with them, whereas Hindus must build a grand Ram-Raheem mosque in the immediate vicinity (paying full cost for the mosque) If Narendra Modi appoints a commission  of senior jurists and judges to frame a common civil code for India, the Muslims should cooperate with that commission, whereas Modi and RSS should find out ways not to hurt the sentiments of the Muslims, ensuring the participation of a very large number of Muslim social workers, Islamic scholars( specially women scholars) in the commission.
Modi has promised India good governance and rapid development. By May 2015 Indians must start feeling the warmth , sincerity and effectiveness of the new Government. Inflation must drop to 6% or below so that the poor and middle class may heave a sigh of relief. The value of a US dollar should never exceed Rs.45. Those who earn less than Rs.40,000/- a month, should not be taxed at all and those who earn more than Rs 2 lakhs a month should be taxed at the rate of 40% at least.
The oppressive rules and laws of the UPA must be repealed. Rice, wheat vegetables, daal, milk hould be made available at affordable prices for everyone. No employer should be allowed to pay less than Rs. 12,000/- p.m to employees who work for 40 hrs. a week. The courts must be made efficient so that people get final judgement within two years. In other words, in two or three years time Indians must start feeling that Modi’s kingdom is like Ram Rajya or Nizam-e -Mustafa where there is no injustice and there is justice and progress everywhere. Since Indians have given Modi a very heavy golden crown with 337 jewels studded in it, he must live up to their expectations.
