KHANSAHIB, BUDGAM Apr 25: National Conference party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah today said that the Modi-Mufti alliance has been rejected by the people of South Kashmir and PDP will similarly be routed from North and Central Kashmir in the coming days.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that National Conference believes in the ethos of secularism and pluralism and will not allow BJP and PDP to toy with the secular fabric of this State and the country for petty short-term political gains.
He was addressing a public meeting in Watrehall alongwith Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stating that National Conference would continue to safeguard Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that gives special status to J&K, Dr. Farooq said Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and PDP, by aligning with Narendra Modi had tried their best to deceive the people of their State for their own personal political interests.
However, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that such evil designs are not new in this State and in fact this is not the first time Mufti Sayeed has conspired against the State’s special status. “Like always, National Conference will defeat Mufti Sayeed, PDP and their nefarious plans to disempower the State of J&K”, he said.
Farooq said that National Conference will keep demanding the restoration of complete Autonomy and the restoration of the pre-1953 status till this goal is achieved, adding Autonomy was a practical and viable solution to the Kashmir issue and would usher the State into an era of greater and sustainable peace.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah asked the people to vote in large numbers in favour of the NC-Congress coalition in the Parliament elections in Srinagar Parliamentary seat so that the secular traditions of this country are saved from a figure as communal and divisive as Narendra Modi.
Emphasizing the need of restricting march of communal and deceptive forces towards New Delhi to grab the power, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, who is also the Working President of the National Conference, today said ‘it’ is all the more necessary for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to blunt the attempt of parties like BJP possessing harsh attitude and nurturing a particular agenda against Jammu and Kashmir’.
He said that PDP is acting as Bteam of BJP in the State to garner the support for Narendra Modi by fielding its candidates tactfully in the current Parliamentary elections. He referred to the fielding of PDP candidates in Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituencies to divide the votes and help Narendra Modi. He said PDP is engaged in deceitful propaganda in the State to create gulf between various regions and various sections of the society to provide tactical support to the BJP.
He asked the people to remain cautious against the propagandist elements who in different shapes and forms attempt to create confusion and fan emotions and sentiments for their vested interests.
“You should defeat all these elements and groups who want to divide you, and are hatching conspiracy against Jammu and Kashmir”, he said and asked the people to exhibit their unity and rally behind NC-Congress candidates to help strengthen secular, democratic credentials of the country and pave the way for bringing a Jammu and Kashmir friendly Government in power at the Centre which would be of representative character and would care for all regions of the country and all sections of the society equitably.
Omar Abdullah said that National Conference has always relied on the support of people and has upheld the cause of the State under all circumstances. He said the NC-Congress Coalition Government would work together to strengthen the pluralistic ethos of the country and equitable and comprehensive socio-economic development of the State besides restoration of permanent peace and stability in the State.
The Working President, National Conference said that the detractors of National Conference have always tried their best to create fissures between the people and National Conference but masses have vehemently foiled all such attempts in the past and will do so in the future.
Castigating PDP for its deceitful politics and propagandists approach, Omar Abdullah said that the leadership of this party has always tried to fool the people on different counts. He said that the candidate of this party which is in the election fray from Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency had repeatedly requested the NC leadership to admit him in the party till yesterday and today he is asking for votes in favour of PDP.
