Modi meets Rajnath, discusses 2014 polls

NEW DELHI, Jan 27:
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today met BJP president Rajnath Singh here and the two leaders had a detailed discussion on the 2014 general polls.
Addressing reporters after meeting the BJP chief, Mr Modi said a detailed discussion was held on upcoming 2014 General Elections. However, the Gujarat CM did not divulge any details.
Mr Modi further said he came here to the national capital to congratulate Mr Singh and seek his advice regarding the developmental work in Gujarat.
Mr Singh, who addressed the mediapersons along with Modi, also said the next General Elections were discussed during the meeting.
Mr Singh was formally elected as BJP president on Wednesday, as there was no other leader from the party who had filed his or her nomination papers.
In a day of dramatic developments on Tuesday, which were capped by Nitin Gadkari’s late night announcement, Mr Singh emerged as the consensus frontrunner in the BJP presidential poll battle.
Mr Gadkari opted out of the election process on grounds that he had to spend time addressing allegations levelled by the income tax department relating to business deals of the Purti Group of companies. (UNI)
