JAMMU, May 20: Lashing out at Modi Government for its failure to contain price hike and befooling people of the country on hollow slogans, senior All India Congress Committee leader and spokesperson Raj Babbar (MP) today said that NDA Government has slashed social sector spending by a whopping Rs 1,75,122 crores in just one year.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Babbar who was accompanied by senior PCC leaders Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla, Rigzin Jora and others, projected one year’s report card of  Narendra Modi Government  and also drew the critical analysis of various aspects.  Substantiating his claim with figures compiled from various sources, the senior Congress  leader alleged that Modi led NDA Government has imposed a whopping cut worth Rs 1,75,122 crores in just one year.  It affected a cut worth Rs 66,222 crores in grants on social sector schemes, Rs 59,00 crore in Backward region Grant Fund (BRGF) and Rs 1,03,000 crore cut by not implementing Food Security Programme aimed at covering 67 % population. On Health sector it slashed funds to the tune of Rs 3,650 crores, Education sector Rs 14,088 crore and Rs 9,025 crore on sanitation and drinking water.
Launching a scathing attack on the Modi Government, Babbar said, ” Soot, Boot Aur Jhooth Ki Sarkar has miserably failed in fulfilling promises made with the people of this country. It only promoted the interests of the big business  houses instead of addressing the issues of the common people of the country.”
Mr Babbar pointed out that BJP had promises 25 crore jobs in 10 years which comes to 2.5 crore jobs per year. But the figures revealed that just 1.17 lakh jobs were created for the quarter till Decembers 2014, which is less than comparative data of last year of the same period. “How, the Modi Govt is going to fulfill this promise as per this rate,” he questioned.
Lashing out at the NDA Govt over price hike of all essential commodities specially pulses, vegetables etc, Babbar said  that present Government has not passed on the benefit of the fall in the prices of petrol and diesel in view of present rates at international market. Modi Govt earned about Rs 80,000 crores out of this by raising Custom and Excise Duty from Rs 2.5 % to 7 %.
The AICC leader questioned the outcome of the foreign tours of the Prime Minister and said that Modi announced  financial support of one Arab dollar to Mangolia which works out to be Rs 22,683 per citizen as per population of 28 lakh but the farmers in the country are committing suicides due to lack of Government support. During his China visit he ignored the core issues like boundary dispute, interference by China in POK by raising infrastructure/ highway and Visa issue for J&K and Arunachal Pradesh residents.
Referring to AIIMS issue, Raj Babbar said that UPA gave two Central Universities, what is the problem to the NDA Government in giving two AIIMS for Kashmir as well as Jammu region. He regretted that  there was no progress on the projects sanctioned by former Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in J&K which included two cancer hospitals and five Medical Colleges.
Asserting that the Kashmir gave him an identity, Bollywood actor turned politician Babbar  invited film industry to the region for shooting describing Jammu and Kashmir as his State.   He said that   Kashmir gave him an identity because he had started his career from Kashmir.
