MLCs demand justice for Sadhaya Arora, action against doctors

JAMMU, Apr 30: BJP senior leaders and MLCs including Ashok Khajuria, Adv. Ramesh Arora, Ajay Bharti, Adv. Vibodh Gupta, Surinder Ambardar and Pardeep Sharma have demanded action against the doctors responsible for death of Sadhaya Arora, son of Ramesh Arora who died due to doctors negligence on October 23, 2016.
Talking to reporters here, today, they said the authorities have failed to act against the concerned doctors despite the fact that the Committee of doctors appointed for probe as well as House Committee constituted by Upper House and orders issued by Government no action has been taken till date.

Demanding immediate action against the concerned doctors of GMC who were treating the patient and due to whose negligence a promising youth of the country met an end in prime age of his life, they said as the Assembly has been dissolved otherwise the issue would have been raised there so they brought the matter in the notice of public.
They said a team of doctors headed by Dr. Anil Mahajan treated Sadhaya Arora in GMC in a manner which reflected total non-professional attitude, careless and casual approach towards a patient who was admitted for the treatment in GMC on of October 17 in 2016 and it was reported that the patient was suffering from Dengue.
On the complaint of father of Sadhaya Arora, Chief Minister vide order No. 979 G of 2016 Dt. 29-10-2016 ordered inquiry and a team of doctors was constituted for the purpose on 08-11-2016. The Committee members included Dr. Gurjeet Singh Soodan, Dr. K.K. Gupta, Dr. Deepak Kapoor, Dr. Rajat Gupta, Dr. Utra Sambyal, they added.
The Committee found many missing points in treatment given to Sadhaya. It also found negligence and non-professional approach of concerned team of doctors which was treating the patient.
They said on November 25, 2016 Advocate Ramesh Arora submitted a complaint to Chairman of Legislative Council and also to Chief Minister and Governor. Matter was discussed in House on January 2, 2017.
They said on January, 4, 2017 vide notification No. 18-LC of 2017 Dt. 04-01-2017, a Joint House Committee was constituted by Chairman of the Upper House to probe the matter. The Committee was headed by Gulam Nabi Monga MLC with members including MLAs G.M Saroori, Devinder Singh Rana, MLCs Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri, Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, Vibodh Gupta, Firdous Tak, Surinder Kumar Chowdhary and Ali Mohammad Dar, they added.
They said the Committee submitted its report in Upper House after examining the whole issue and also considered the reports submitted by local doctors and taking assistance of two doctors from outside the State besides examining the consult doctors it came to the conclusion “that death has been caused due to the negligence of the concerned HOD and team of doctors”
They alleged that Commissioner Secretary Health Department was delaying the matter on one or other pretext.
They demanded immediate action against erring doctors.
