MLC, VC SKUAST-J call on Governor

JAMMU, Nov 20: Girdhari Lal Raina, MLC, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Raina informed the Governor about several important problems relating to the Kashmiri Pandits who were compelled to leave their hearth and homes and flee from the Valley in 1989-90. He called for urgent steps to induce urgent confidence measures to enable the return of community. In this context, he demanded establishment of the Kashmiri Pandit Welfare Board.
Assuring support, the Governor advised Raina to vigorously continue his endeavours for the restoration of peace and normalcy and strengthening communal harmony between all communities.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) also called on Governor.
Dr. Sharma briefed the Governor about the status of admissions to the under-graduate and post-graduate courses; academic and administrative issues relating to the institution and the difficulties being faced on certain fronts.
Governor advised the Vice Chancellor to take sustained initiatives for boosting extension activities for securing visible improvement in the production and productivity levels.
Governor and VC also discussed issues relating to the next Convocation of the University.
