SRINAGAR, June 17: The brother of an MLA yesterday thrashed Block Development Officer Sopore inside Dak Bunglow Baramulla after he had heated argument with the MLA over the execution of some developmental works.
Reports said that MLA Rafiabad, Yawar Dilawar Mir, along with his brother Nazir Mir held a meeting with his 8-10 workers at Dak Bunglow, Baramulla where they had called BDO Sopore, Reyaz Ahmad Wani, as well to discuss the implementation of some developmental work in Rafiabad.
The MLA was not satisfied with the plea of the BDO which led to heated arguments between Nazir Mir and the BDO. Mir then allegedly thrashed the BDO in presence of MLA at Dak Bunglow.
The PSO of the MLA rescued the BDO and later he was handed over to the police station Baramulla. However, the SSP Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain, on hearing about the incident rushed to the police Station and took the BDO along.
The Revenue department officials in the district expressed concern over the thrashing of a Government employee by the brother of the MLA. They demanded action be taken against Mir, who thrashed a government servent on duty.
