MLA Doda calls on Nirmala Sita Raman, MoS Defence

JAMMU, Oct 10: In order to fulfill long pending demands of people related to development and construction of roads in rural areas of his Constituency, which remained a major concern for the people, MLA Doda today called on Defence Minister, Nirmala Sita Raman and MoS Defence, Subhash Ramrao Bhamre in New Delhi, today and demanded start of work on Bhagwah-Lal Draman Defence road.
Parihar during his meeting with Nirmala Sita Raman demanded that Bhagwah-Lal Draman Defence Road be constructed on priority basis and special recruitment drive be launched in Army for the youth of his Constituency.
He explained the importance of this road to Defence Minister, which he said would provide job opportunities to more than two thousand skilled and unskilled laborers of the area and also help them in raising their economic condition.
The 39 kilometer road which would connect Bhagwah to Lal Draman (tourist spot) and Masla to Dushnan is of around Rs 200 crore project under the annual work plane of Border Road Organization (BRO) and the agency has already deposited Rs 25 crore to district administration for the land acquisition and forest clearance.
MLA Doda in his memorandum to the Defence Minister has mentioned this road as crucial project in providing connectivity to remote areas of Dessa which remained hot belt of militancy and insurgency in two decades. He also urged the Minister to take up this road project on priority by keeping social, economic and security of the area in mind.
MLA, Doda said that with construction of this road, many new places of tourism would come up in the map of tourism and people will be attracted to these virgin places.
MLA, Doda also demanded special recruitment drive be launched in army for the recruitment of the youth of the area so that educated unemployed get chance to serve in defence forces especially in Army. He also raised several other issues related to security and upliftment of the area.
Meanwhile, MLA, Doda also met with Minister of State in the Ministry of Defence and raised simmer issues with him.
“Both the Ministers showed serious concern about the issues and they assured that they will help in every possible manner for starting the work on road project. They also assured of launching a special recruitment drive in army for recruitment of educated unemployed youth in Doda, said Parihar .
