UDHAMPUR, Nov 2: MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat has provided a financial support of Rs 15 lakh to District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, as Gap Funding for construction of Foot Bridges under Project Rahat.
A cheque of Rs 15 lakh was handed over to the DDC by MLA Chenani Dina Nath Bhagat for extending support to the innovative project aimed at construction of 110 foot bridges near schools and difficult hamlets in hilly areas of the district with convergence of recourses. With support of MLA Chenani 8 additional bridges will be constructed in Chenani-Ghordi Constituency at acost of Rs 78 lakhs under MGNREGA and CDF along with other financial resources mobilised under the project.
DDC Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary expressed gratitude to the MLA Chenani for extending financial support to the project which will help thousands of students and inhabitants of hilly areas in the district and will facilitate movement of human beings and livestock ensuring safety of lives in rainy season.
Member Parliament and Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh earlier extended support of Rs 25 lakh for the project while MLA Udhampur and Minister of State for Finance & IT Pawan Gupta provided Rs 15 lakh financial support to the project. Around 35 bridges are being constructed in Chenani-Ghordi constutency and with contribution of Rs 15 Lakh by MLA Chenani the construction of many bridges will get expedited.
MLA Chenani also extended assurance of all kind of possible help to the district administration for completion of this unique project aimed at providing benefits to lakhs of people in the district. He also called for similar concerted efforts of convergence under single line administration for development of infrastructure in rural areas.
In Phase-I of the Project Rahat work on 51 bridges has been started and likewise work on remaining 59 bridges is scheduled to commence later this month.
