JAMMU, Nov 30: MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma today insisted on the use of traditional fertilizers instead of chemicals.
The MLA was speaking at a function organised by Agriculture Department on the name and title seed village training camp under NFSM at Rah Salyote Pyt in Akhnoor tehsil today.
The MLA asked the farmers to prepare their soil cards for better production of crops etc. The farmers from different areas of Akhnoor constituency participated in the function.
Tehsildhar Chowki Choura Sheesh Pal, SDAEO Som Nath Sharma, Bharat Bhushan Naib Tehsildar, Chowki Choura, Guldeep Raj Zonal Officer, Matinder Singh ADO vegetable Jammu , Neeraj Sharma JAEO, Rajesh Langer, Matinder Singh and other officials of Agriculture Depot were present in the function.
Officials of Agriculture Department guided locals about the proper sowing of wheat crop. Free seeds were also distributed to locals by MLA Akhnoor.
Subsidised vegetables seeds kit etc would be distributed among the farmers in next meeting as assured by MLA.
The MLA said Fasal Bima is also a boon for farmers for insurance of crops on a very low marginal premium.
Sharma also asked farmers to adopt honey bee breeding, flower production, citrus fruit, lemon grass, vegetables and fruit production with traditional crops of Kandi belt.
