Strong protest dharna by Cong in Jammu, Srinagar

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, July 26: Congress today staged a strong protest dharna at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu and out side party office Srinagar against the alleged vindictive actions of Modi Govt towards Congress leadership and termed it dictatorial and anti- democracy approach of BJP.

A large number of senior leaders along with prominent activists and workers carrying pla cards  and raising slogans against Modi Government and BJP for its vindictive actions against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, in National Herald case, held a peaceful protest dharna under the leadership of working president Raman Bhalla at Jammu. He was accompanied by several senior leadership including chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, general secretaries Yogesh Sawhney, Balwan Singh, former minister Jugal Kishore Sharma, Gurbachan Kumari Rana, Ch Gharu Ram, senior leaders Ved Mahajan, KC Bhagat,   AS Micky, INTUC  president Shiv Kumar Sharma, PYC president Udey Chib, districts presidents Hari Singh Chib, Pankaj Dogra and others.
Raman Bhalla and other leaders charged BJP Government led by Narendra Modi of being anti- democratic in its mindset and approach and indulging in personal vendetta and misuse of central agencies against opposition especially Congress leadership to divert attention of people from the failures and misdeeds of the government.
Bhalla hit out at BJP government, accusing it of indulging in cheap vendetta politics to divert attention from issues such as inflation, falling GDP growth, social unrest, and its divisive policies in the country. He said the case of money laundering was baseless. Congress shall not be intimidated by such cheap tactics.
In Srinagar also Congress leaders and activists led by JKPCC president GA Mir held Satyagraha protest outside its office. Several office bearers, former Legislators, DCC presidents and prominent Party workers participated.
Mir and other leaders criticized ED summon to Sonia Gandhi and sought end to vendetta politics unleashed by the BJP against the opposition especially Congress Party aiming to divert attention of the people from its utter failures on all fronts.
Mir said ED summons to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is a tool to malign the image of the grand old National Party. He said Modi Govt’s diversionary tactics and misleading politics won’t deter Congress Party from fighting for the rights of people despite coercion and misuse of agencies against the party leadership. JKPCC president termed policy of coercion and misuse of agencies by Modi Govt as intolerable and unacceptable.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Peerzada Mohd Sayed (former PCC chief), senior leaders Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Mohd Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, SS Channi and others.
Similar protest was held by Congress activists led by JKPCC vice president and former R&B Minister G M Saroori outside DC office at Kishtwar. A large number of DCC, BCC and DYC office bearers participated in the protest.
