BARAMULLA, Nov 25: In an exclusive tour to Baramulla district, Mission Director Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) J&K, Dr. G.N. Itoo today took a detailed inspection of works being executed under JJM, besides interacted with the representatives of Pani Samitis and carried out other several activities pertaining to the developmental aspirations of people.
Paying site inspection of various ongoing Water Supply Schemes (WSS) including WSS of Bodibug, Gund Khawaja Qasim and issuing 31st December 2023 a deadline for completion of certain projects, Dr G.N. Itoo exhorted upon the concerned authorities for timely completion of the schemes and impressed upon them to ensure that the benefits under the scheme suffice the targeted populace.
While inspecting the Water Supply Scheme of Matipora Pattan, the Mission Director was apprised that the project was being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 5.28 Crores has the capacity of 50 thousand Gallons thereby catering more 11000 souls of the area.
The Mission Director JJM also held an interaction with the members of Paani Samiti and discussed their role under JJM in their respective areas. He also laid emphasis on encouraging the local communities to take over the rural water supply system for operation and maintenance.
During exclusive interaction with the people, Dr. G.N. Itoo said that the Government is committed to ensure the availability of clean water to every household, thus improving the overall quality of life for the residents. He urged the participants in general and students in particular to save the water for future generations and sensitized about the significance of the Jal Jeevan Mission and the importance of using water judiciously.
Dr. G.N. Itoo also paid a visit to Kanispora and inspected the ongoing work of WSS. He was briefed that the project is to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.70 Cr and catering the large area.
Later, the Mission Director JJM also visited Higher Secondary School Dangiwacha and presided over the programme organized by JJM in collaboration with Education Department Baramulla to showcase the achievements made under the JJM programme. He also listened to various issues of the people, PRIs and assured his fullest support in fulfilling their aspirations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. G.N. Itoo said that Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme is being implemented in J&K UT with 3100 schemes consisting of 6600 works in various components including, filtration plants, OHTs, water reservoirs, pipelines to saturate the desired target benefitting 18.68 lac Rural households in the entire J&K. He also said that out of total 228 Schemes sanctioned under JJM Project, 24 projects have been completed so far while the work is in progress for the rest of the works/ Projects.
