Minor killed, two injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Feb 3: A minor girl was killed while two others were injured today in separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, an 8-year-old girl identified as Anisha, daughter of Mohd Altaf, resident of Sunjuwan (Jammu) sustained serious injuries while her father escaped unhurt when a bike bearing registration number JK02AW-4092 on which they were going on, was hit by a truck (with registration number JK12A-2467) on Narwal Bye Pass Road near Toyota showroom, this afternoon.
The seriously injured girl was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she succumbed to her injuries after few minutes. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased girl was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites. The Narwal police had registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused truck driver namely Iqbal Ahmed, son of Mohd Aslam, resident of Kalai, tehsil Haveli, district Poonch.
Meanwhile, a woman pedestrian namely Santosh Devi (30) wife of Kewal Kumar, resident of Domana, was hit and injured by a scooter near her residence. A motorcyclist identified as Parshotam Kumar (32) son of Hakikat Raj, resident of Karloop (Jammu) received serious injuries when the bike on which he was travelling, got slipped in Purkhoo area. Both the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment.
