RAMBAN, Aug 23: A minor boy was killed in hit and run case in main town here today.
As per police sources, a truck bearing registration number JK03C-1321 hit a boy namely Mohammad Asif (5), son of Hafizullah Sheikh in main town. The driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot.
The profusely bleeding victim was rushed to District Hospital (DH) Ramban, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
After conducting post-mortem, the body of the deceased minor was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
However, acting swiftly a team from Police Station Ramban chased and intercepted the vehicle in Mehar area here and arrested the accused driver, who was identified as Tanveer Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohd Sheikh, a resident of District Budgam.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
