Ministry of Culture holds seminar on teachings of Guru Nanak Ji

JAMMU, Mar 8: To celebrate the 550th Parkash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj a national level seminar sponsored by Ministry of Culture Delhi through Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts and in collaboration with Sahakar Bharti Jammu Kashmir was held at Police Auditorium here.
In the seminar number of educationists of different universities of India , politicians and social activists participated. The seminar started with lighting of lamp by Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Dera Nangali Sahib along with Shankar Lalwani MP Indore, Shamsher Singh Manhas , MP (RS) Dr Gurpal Singh from Chandigarh University and Prof Pawan Shastri of Moti Lal Nehru University, Delhi.
While speaking in the seminar Mahant Manjit Singh Ji laid emphasis to spread Guru Ji’s message of peace to entire world which is the need of the hour. He also stressed on inculcating the moral values in the society which is the basic fundamental of every religion.
Shanker Lalwani said Sindhi Samaj is a “Nanak Leva Samaj” but this Samaj is in a very bad condition in Sindh province of Pakistan where from our roots are. We have to work hard to save our society from such conditions”, he added.
MP Shamsher Singh Manhas said “if we have to compete with developed countries we have to follow the mission of peace which is the message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj”.
Prof Pawan Shastri said being a young religion the contributions of Sikhs are unparallel in every field of life. For the freedom of country and to liberation of country from the tyrant Pathans and Mughals the Sikhs role is remarkable and unparallel, he added.
Dr Gurpal Singh laid stress on Bakti Movement of India and said that how Gurus assembled it in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. “Our culture is still intact and safe despite many atrocities because of Bakti Movement”, he added.
Dr Jawant Singh read the welcome address while Parvesh Mahajan gave the introduction of Sahakar Bharti J&K.
The programme was conducted by Nawneet Kour and Bikram Singh while the vote of thanks was proposed by Karamjit Kour. A vision document of Principal Foundation was also released by Mahant Manjit Singh Ji on the occasion.
