Militant killed in Kupwara

Srinagar, Jan 1: Security forces today foiled an infiltration attempt by militants at Jumagund area near the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district and killed one militant.
An official said that the infiltration bid has been foiled in Jumagand area while the operation is still underway. He said that as of now a militant has been killed in the ongoing operation.
He said that reinforcement has been rushed to the area and it has been cordoned off to ensure the attempt stands fully foiled and infiltrators if more than one in number is eliminated.
He said that this is the joint operation of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Earlier, the Kashmir zone police were informed about the killing of a militant in an encounter at the Jumagund area of Kupwara.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar, said that the picture of one of slain JeM militants killed in Anantnag encounter matches with JeM top commander Samit Dar, who was involved in Lethpora attack.
The IGP said that police will go for DNA sample matching to ascertain the same.
