Militant held, IS flags appear

Srinagar, Oct 17: A Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was apprehended by Police and security forces in Pulwama today. The militant was a close associate of top LeT commanders.
A police spokesman said that acting on a tip off, Pulwama Police in a joint operation with 44RR, 182 and 183 CRPF apprehended him in village Sheikhabad in district Pulwama.
“The LeT militant Abid Magray alias Suju son of Manzoor Ahmad Magray resident of Nowpora Payeen is involved in a militancy related incidents in South Kashmir and was a close aide of Abu Maaz and Abu Qasim”, police said.
In the meantime, the Islamic State or ISIS flag surfaced in Old City outside Jamia Masjid soon after Friday prayers.
Two youth were holding an ISIS flag and around two dozen raised slogans in favour of ISIS and Al-Qaida.
Youth pelted stones on police deployed outside Jamia Masjid. However, they dispersed immediately.
Earlier police and para-military CRPF was heavily deployed in old city area after ISIS flags appeared on Eidul Azha and after Friday prayers there.
