JAMMU, May 15: Kashmiri migrants today held a demonstration in front of Relief Organization here and locked the offices there in protest against the attachment of Deputy Commissioner, Relief by Minister of Relief, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Javed Mustafa Mir over the notification issued by him seeking information regarding Kashmiri migrants intending to visit various shrines in Valley during annual Kheer Bhawani yatra.
The protestors including the camp and non camp migrants as well as leaders of various KP organizations locked the offices of Relief Organization and staged a strong protest there against the Government decision. They demanded immediate revocation of the order failing which the agitation will be intensified from tomorrow.
Terming the attachment order issued by Government unfortunate, president Sampooran Kashmiri Sangthan (SKS), Rakesh Kaul demanded that the order be revoked immediately failing which the migrants will be forced to take extreme step.
He said it is unfortunate that Chief Minister had recently during her meeting with migrants at Delhi said that Government will provide healing touch to the migrants by settling their problems and is this the healing touch that an officer who was working with dedication to settle the issued of the displaced people irrespective of their religious affiliations was harassed and humiliated by the Government for no fault of his.

The PDP Minority Cell leaders who also participated in the protest later convened a meeting under the leadership of Ashok Dhar in which party members from all camp and non camp areas participated. It said there was nothing wrong in the notice as Relief Commissioner has himself admitted that the notice was issued after holding deliberations with prominent people of the community including heads of migrant cells of various organizations camp and non camp leaders as well as MLC.
Ashok Dhar in the meeting made an appeal to party president and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Javed Mustafa Mir to bring the officer back. They also contacted Tourism Minister, Tasaduq Mufti and PDP chief spokesperson, Rafiq Ahmed Mir and sought their intervention saying such a step will create a wedge between migrants and party.
The Migrant leaders who participated in the protest included Congress Migrant Cell Chairman H L Pandita and its general secretary C L Kandi, M K Yogi president N C Minority Cell, relief holders and over aged youth representatives Ravinder Kaul and Sundri Lal Kaul, ex Sarpanch and PDP leader Nana Ji, Shadi Lal Pandita of JTC, Kuldeep Pandita of Thinkers Forum, T N Koul from Muthi Camp, Pinto Ji of Vishaw Kashmiri Pandit Conference, Sanjay Koul, LJP, Raju Sehgal, Migrant Traders, Ashok Ji Dhar of PDP, Daya Krishan and Daleep Kumar from Purkhoo Camp, Ch Akbar, Abdul Qayoom Wani, Khawaja Sardar Mohammed and Fida Hussian all from Muslim Migrants.
They said the notice issued by D C Relief does not contain any word like permission to be sought for the purpose of yatra or registration to be made for visiting the pilgrimage centers in Valley for which the officer was punished.
A meeting was held by JTC at Jagti camp under the leadership of Shadi Lal Pandita in which Government was urged to revoke the order failing which, JTC and SKF will protest. SP Migrant Cell president, Inder Ji Labroo, Vitasta Sewa Samaj, leader Chand Ji Khar and Ashok Ji, PM package employees of Budgam have also demanded that the order be immediately rescinded.
Meanwhile, K P Sabha in a meeting here, today held under the leadership of its president K K Khosa said the letter of Relief Organization was almost in accordance to set procedure for making arrangements for the pilgrims for transportation and accommodation at holy shrine yet the language there in gave a tool to critics and Government to misinterpret the message and a campaign was launched on social and print media. Khosa demanded that the Government should probe the matter without making a dedicated officer a scapegoat. He said probe is well but punishing an officer without enquiry report is demoralizing.
