JAMMU, Oct 12: Joint Migrant Education Employees Association in its meeting here, today has extended full support to the demands of the employees and urged the Government to implement the agreement made with the employees leaders last time.
The meeting was chaired by Bharat Bushan, chairman of the Association.
The meeting while justifying the increase in retirement age to 60 years as demanded by employees said that the entrance age in Government service has been fixed at 37 years and the retirement age is 58 years. This way the employee who joins the service in 37 years of age serves the department for 21 years only which is not even the qualifying service for retirement and the employee thus as per rules is not entitled to pensionary benefits either. The Government should reduce the qualifying service from 28 years to 20 years for giving pensionary benefits to employees.
The meeting said as the prices of essential commodities have touched peak how a pensioner can make his both ends meet if he is deprived of full pensionary benefits.
The meeting in an appeal to Deputy Chief Minister urged him to issue adjustment orders to newly promoted masters in camp schools.
