MHA extends PoJK refugees’ scheme

JAMMU, May 4: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has extended the timeline for grant of Central Assistance for one time settlement of displaced families of PoJK (1947) and Chhamb (1965 and 1971) settled in Jammu and Kashmir from March 31, 2022 to March 31, 2024.
A letter to this effect issued to Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Government was released today by the Department of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Affairs of the Home Ministry.
“The scheme has been extended within the approved outlay of Rs 2000 crore. It will not continue beyond 31/03/2024,” the MHA letter said.
The letter requested the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to complete the process of identifying all remaining eligible families of the scheme and furnish authenticated proposals to the Ministry immediately.
