JAMMU, May 18: All MGNREGA Employees’ Association has demanded the higher authorities of the Rural Development Department (RDD) to revoke its recent order regarding extension of services of MGNREGA staff.
“We have been working in RDD for last 12-14 years and were engaged for MGNREGA schemes only but our services are being utilized in each and every scheme i.e. 14 FC, MPLAD, MLA Funds, MLC Funds, SBM, CD Panchayat, election duties and even in COVID-19 related duties and despite that we have always performed our duties sincerely,” the Association said in a release issued today.
The release said that the MGNREGA employees are being tortured again and again by the RDD authorities both in the UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh by issuing new orders and modifications which is completely injustice with the highly qualified MGNREGA staff members who are working with dedication even on a petty honorarium of Rs 6000 per month.
“The torture of MGNREGA staff has reached to its peak now as they are being given threats of termination. We are working with a positive attitude as the RDD department has already made a proposal of absorption for MGNREGA supporting staff but the Secretary RDD has recently issued an order in which the department is demanding our work progress of last 3 years in MGNREGA only and leaving other schemes in which we have worked and also won accolades,” it said.
Strongly condemning the order issued by the Secretary RDD, the Association demanded its revocation immediately and warned of going on indefinite pen down strike if the order is not revoked.
