JAMMU, May 18: J&K BJP vice president, Yudhvir Sethi today lambasted the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi of doing politics over stranded migrants across the nation amid lockdown due to outbreak of COVID-19 and trying to weaken the country in its fight against the pandemic.
In a statement issued here, Sethi said that Opposition party is weakening the country’s fight against the Coronavirus by doing petty politics. He said that Congress is inflaming poor labourers who are stranded in various parts of the country due to the lockdown. He asserted that the BJP led Government at the Centre is making all efforts for their home return and in this regard instructions had already been given to the State governments to foot the bill for paying the rail fare of migrant workers and the Railway Ministry has also subsidized 85 per cent of the ticket fare for the special trains being run to take these workers home.
Sethi mentioned that while Prime Minister, Narendra Modi brought together all the Chief Ministers by taking them into confidence for a constructive and collective fight against COVID-19, Sonia Gandhi was allegedly trying to divide the country by talking to Congress CMs separately.
“The whole world is praising the efforts of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in fight against COVID-19,. We should all be together in this fight. If the Congress cannot help the country, it should at least not try to weaken its fight against Coronavirus,” he asserted.
Slamming the Congress for criticising the ongoing lockdown, Sethi said that in these tough times parties should stand together and fight Coronavirus rather than doing petty politics.
“But by doing such petty politics, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are weakening the countrymen’s fight against the virus,” Sethi said, asking “when will Congress give more importance to national interest before its own interest.”
Applauding the vision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in foreseeing the danger and implementing lockdown in time, he said that had PM Modi wasted even a day, the scenario would have been catastrophic. He asked the people to have faith in Modi led dispensation in Centre as it is closely monitoring the situation and doing whatever is in the best interest of people.
Sethi said that this victory of Indians against corona under the leadership of PM will be written in history with golden words.
