JAMMU, May 3: Maha Ganesh Asthapan Committee (MGAC), Brantal, Sirru, Pattan, Baramulla, organized a Maha Yagya under the religious and spiritual guidance of Pt Janki Nath Sharma at Shiv Mandir, Durga Nagar, Sector-1, here today.
The Yagya began with a first ‘suhakar’ in the evening yesterday and culminated after the completion of five ‘suhakars’ followed by ‘Puran Aahuti’ and a Maha Bhog at 1:30 pm, here today.
Hundreds of devotees from all walks of life, especially the members of ‘Sirru Biradari’ from Jammu and other parts of the country including Ghaziabad, Delhi, Faridabad and Pune, attended the Yagya with religious gaiety and enjoyed togetherness, reflecting the sweet memories of the past.
‘Bhajans’ and ‘Kirtans’ were held during the day which smacked an ecstatic rather blissful feeling among all the devotees present on the occasion.
A book on religious poetry namely ‘Prem Rass’ by Late Gopi Nath Pandita (Gopi), a spiritual saint, hit the stalls during the day.
Chhabeels were arranged by the organizers during the day to help the devotees quench their thirst in scorching heat and humid conditions.
The Yagya was organized by the executive body of MGAC Brantal including Girdhari Lal Pandita, Pyaray Lal Pandita, Daya Krishan Koul, Hriday Nath Bhat, Chaman Lal Bhat, Durga Nath Pandita, Autar Krishan Dhar, Brij Nath Koul, Rattan Lal Dhar, Yograj Koul, Rupesh Ji Koul, Kiran Ji Koul and Tej Krishan Bhat (Bablu).
Meanwhile, similar Yagya was organized at Surdass Ashram, Sari, Ghou Manhasan Road, Jammu, to celebrate Ganesh Chaturdeshi with religious fervour and gaiety.
Hundreds of devotees attended the Yagya to seek blessings of Maha Ganesha and attain bliss.
