Srinagar, Apr 4: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti, today filed fresh nomination for Anantnag Parliamentary constituency.
The Returning Officer of Anantnag Parliamentary constituency, Saugat Biswas, told Excelsior that Mehbooba filed another nomination today. When asked about the reasons, he said that a candidate can file 4 nominations.
The fresh nomination by Mehbooba comes in the wake of NC accusing her of producing fraud bank account details.
Mufti, who filed her nomination on April 1, the national holiday of banks, failed to produce required fresh account details on that day. She, however, later managed to open an account.
The NC described Mehbooba’s bank account as bogus forcing her to file fresh nomination. The chief spokesman of the PDP, Naeem Akhtar told Excelsior that Mehbooba opened a fresh bank account in UCO Bank, Srinagar after NC starting a campaign against her.
Fresh Current Bank Account is mandatory for every contestant so that expenditure incurred on the elections by a candidate is monitored.
