MENDHAR, Oct 3: To express their anguish against high handedness of a police cop, the medical staff handling COVID-19 patients at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mendhar held protest and suspended their work.
Owing to protest, the patients had to face some tough time at SDH Mendhar.
According to the reports, a Sub Inspector hailing from Mendhar and posted in District Rajouri was found COVID-19 positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
The cop was called for RTPCR to ascertain whether he is positive for COVID-19 the cop started using unparliamentarily language against the staff dealing with COVID-19 patients.
The use of unparliamentarily language irked the medical staff, who went on strike and held protest.
“We work 24×7 during ongoing pandemic, but in return are getting abused and that too by men in uniform”, the medical staff said, adding that action should be taken against the cop for misbehaving with them.
The audio of this entire incident is viral on social media platforms, in which people can listen a cop using unparliamentarily languages against the medical staff.
Block Medical Officer Mendhar Dr Parvez Khan has asked the IGP Jammu Zone to take action against the cop, who allegedly used unparliamentarily language against the medical staff.
When contacted, SHO Mendhar Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli said that action has been initiated on the complaint lodged by the doctors against the cop. “I personally visited the SDH and assured doctors of taking up their issue with the higher authorities”, he added.
On the assurance, the medical staff resumed their duties at SDH Mendhar.
Meanwhile, Dr Balvinder Singh, President Doctors Association Jammu (DAJ) has demanded immediate suspension of the cop for abusing the doctors and health care workers at SDH Mendhar. He appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter and immediately issue order for suspension of police officer and also lodge FIR against him.
The doctors threatened mass agitation across Jammu if timely action is not take against the police officer.
