UDHAMPUR, Oct 3: On day two of third phase of ambitious ‘Back to Village’, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, K.K Sharma, today visited Panchayat Neeli Nallah, Udhampur and interacted with PRIs and locals taking stock of development scenario in the area.
Sarpanch of the concerned panchayat highlighted several demands like sanctioning of bridge over nallah, playground in Chang, early construction of Degree College, Tourism hut at Neeli Nallah in Bheem Devsthan, Niabat at Neeli Nallah, construction of link roads, up gradation of health centres, community hall, augmentation of power supply infrastructure etc.
Advisor said that the main purpose of this programme is to see the implementation and impact of Government schemes on ground besides empowerment of Panchayats. He said that the objective of the campaign is to energize Panchayats, collecting feedback on delivery of Government programmes, capturing specific economic potential and undertaking assessment of needs of the villages.
Advisor, while interacting with the people during a Gram Sabha held at Neeli Nallah Panchayat, had an elaborated feedback on status of implementation of all government schemes in the area. He also took stock of problems being faced by PRI members in development of their respective panchayats.
He urged the panchayat representatives to adopt new techniques like polygreen houses, construction of eco friendly ponds, rain water harvesting, sustainable agricultural practices etc. He added that Government has empowered Panchayats through devolution of funds, functions and functionaries so they must utilize the opportunity to the optimum. He hoped that the PRIs would make efficient and effective use of the funds being made available to them under various schemes for development and growth of their areas.
Sharma also inaugurated a link road constructed under 14th FC, planted a tree in the premises of Panchayat ghar and inaugurated a PMAY house.
Advisor said that education is the most powerful tool which can be used for development, peace and harmony in the society if used effectively and efficiently. He stressed on skill development saying that skill development is not just to empower youth for jobs but to create entrepreneurship opportunities for youth in agriculture and allied activities. He stressed upon the unemployed youth to explore opportunity in Agriculture and Horticulture sectors under which there is high potential and scope.
Advisor also distributed golden cards under Ayushman Bharat Schemes, KCCs, Power Tiller Machine by Horticulture department, sports kits by RDD, Wheel chairs, Crutches, Hearing aids by Social Welfare department, Domicile and SC certificates by Revenue department on the occasion.
Among others, SSP Udhampur, Sargun Shukla, ADC, Nagendra Singh Jamwal, GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma, ACD, Mushtaq Chowdhary, ACR, Viqar Giri, and other district officers besides Sarpanchs and Panchs of adjoining panchayats were present on the occasion.
