Sir,
This has reference to creation of four new medical colleges and two cancer hospitals in the State. It is a very welcome step. These colleges were indeed need of the hour keeping in view the growing population of the State and consequent increasing graph of diseases and accidents in the State.
The health sector has not grown satisfactorily in the State. There is imbalanced growth of this sector. While urban centres enjoy quality medicare, the rural people have to remain content with whatever is available to them. Hence they continue to suffer. There is no denying the fact that there is almost one PHC in every village. But these PHCs hardly cater to the needs of people as these lack sufficient staff equipments and medicines. Therefore people rush to urban locatedHealth Centres for treatment. With the result, the hospitals there especially the two GMCs remain overcrowded day and nights. To decongest them, it is necessarythat new modern hospitals be created in rural areas to overcome the problems already stated.
The establishment of a medical college in Doda district is a laudable decision. The people of this far flung area suffer too much on account of road accidents and other problems.
Besides, establishment of two cancer institutes will bring great relief to patients who suffer from this deadly disease. Since most facilities are not available to patients here, they rush to other States. It involves a lot of money which is not possible for people to arrange particularly at a time when cost of medicines has touched sky.
Yours etc…..
