JAMMU, Dec 12: If the people of the country have the Right to Information then it becomes duty of the media to keep them abreast with updated information on all Government programmes and welfare schemes in the right earnest manner.
This was stated by Obaidur Rahman, chairman of Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC), Jammu and Kashmir, while addressing a meeting of IMPCC members at Conference Hall of Doordarshan Kendra Jammu today.
Mr Rahman said that the IMPCC has identified the Right to Franchise as a focused publicity theme for all the media units of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the recently concluded Assembly elections in five States is an example that has witnessed unprecedented number of voters exercising their right to vote.
He advised the PIB Jammu to focus on J&K specific schemes of Government of India like UMEED, UDAAN and HIMAYAT.
Bashir Arif, Deputy Director General, Radio Kashmir Srinagar, while speaking on the occasion, advised Directorate of Field Publicity and Song & Drama Division to revive their film screening shows and street programmes on awareness of the people in the entire J&K State particularly in rural areas.
A H Bangi, ARO, Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, informed the meeting that the entire Doordarshan Studios of J&K would remain connected ‘Live’ through ‘Hot-Switching’ very soon vis-à-vis DDK Srinagar, DDK Jammu and DDK Leh, for the most reputed live morning show ‘Good Morning J&K’.
Dr Sohan Lal Koul, Programme Executive DDK Jammu, highlighted the activities of Doordarshan Jammu.
Anjali Sharma, Programme Head DDK Jammu, Sanjit Khajuria, News In-charge DDK Jammu, Ravi Magotra, Programme Head of Radio Kashmir Jammu, Ramesh, representing All India Radio Kathua and Ruksana Jabeen, Head CBS Radio Kashmir Srinagar, highlighted the activities of their respective media units.
Prominent among others who attended the meeting included representatives of DAVP, Song & Drama Division, Directorate of Field Publicity, Health and Family Welfare Department, PIB Jammu, DDK Leh, PRO Defence, AIR Poonch and AIR Kargil.
