Mayor highlights public grievances regarding power supply in Jammu city

JAMMU, Apr 4: Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta today projected major issues pertaining to PDD, which are being faced by the citizens of Jammu in this hot weather conditions.
Talking to media persons, he particularly drew attention towards unscheduled power cuts and huge electricity bills being issued by the PDD to the consumers.
Accompanied by Raj Kumar, Chairman Public Health & Sanitation Committee and Ajay Gupta, Chairman Social Justice Committee, the Mayor said that during his routine tour of various wards of the city alongwith concerned Councillors, general public besides raising the issues of construction of drains/ lanes and better sanitation also put forth problems which they are facing on daily basis regarding shortage of power and water supply, huge electricity bills, frequent power cuts in their localities and other related issues which pertain to PDD.
“The issue of water supply has been resolved to some extent due to transfer of Jal Shakti Department (Urban) to JMC but in order to minimize the sufferings of Jammu people regarding PDD which is not the domain of JMC, Managing Director JPDCL Shiv Anant Tayal alongwith Xens, AEEs of Jammu City were called in the office of Mayor at Town Hall, Jammu the other day where Deputy Mayor, all the three Chairpersons, Councillors of various wards of old Jammu city and Commissioner JMC Avny Lavasa were also present,” he informed.
The Mayor claimed that he along with others raised the issues regarding power supply before the Managing Director JPDCL and also opposed installation of Smart Meters until the proper infrastructure/ cabling is done and unscheduled power cuts are stopped.
Mayor said that after the sincere and hectic efforts of all the Councilors of JMC who time & again projected the vital issue of power crises at various platforms with the concerned authorities as well as with Union Power Minister of India, the issue of strengthening power supply infrastructure has been resolved to some extent.
