Mattoo appeals people to help Govt for restoration of peace

NEW DELHI, JULY 28: The Advisor to the Chief Minister, Prof  Amitabh Mattoo today said the State Government has initiated several measures for restoration of peace and also certain confidence building measures like interaction with the civil society and major stakeholders of the Valley have also been undertaken.
The advisor was interacting with several deputations of intellectuals, academics and people from media fraternity here today who had called on him to discuss the prevailing situation in the Valley.
Prof Mattoo maintained that the situation has shown marked improvement since last few days and the administration has also been geared up to ensure that the people get the requisite essentials like food grains, medicines and other basic amenities. He said several teams of doctors have also visited the Valley hospitals to provide medical help to the people who have got injured during the current unrest and some of the patients have already been flown to the premier health institutions of the country like AIIMS for specialized treatment.
The Advisor further hoped that the people will understand the importance of the peace for carrying forward the developmental initiatives and come forward and help the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in sustaining the peaceful environs. He said the Chief Minister has already taken several initiatives in this regard like visiting the families of the persons who lost their lives besides, initiating inquires in some of the incidents and the people should also contribute their bit in restoring peace and bringing back the Valley to normalcy.
Prof Mattoo said that the tourism sector, which is one of the mainstays of the State’s economy has also taken a hit due to which the people associated with this core sector are also suffering colossal losses.
