Matter involving Pandit family a land dispute: Police

Srinagar, Oct 21: Police today said an incident that involves a local Pandit family and a Muslim family in Kulgam district of south Kashmir is a land dispute.
A police spokesman said that an incident occurred on October 19 over land dispute between Avtar Krishan Pandita, son of Kalaas Ram, resident of Renipora Kulgam and Naseer Ahmad Bhat and brothers/sons of Qadir Bhat, resident of Renipora Kulgam.  “Immediate help had been provided to the families through PCR by sending a team of police from police station Kulgam,” he said.
The spokesman said that on complaint by Avtar Krishan and family regarding the incident a case under FIR number 182/2017 under Sections 341,354,336,427 RPC stands registered in police station Kulgam on same day and investigation has been taken up. “On preliminary investigation it has been found that the matter is a dispute over state land which belongs to neither party,” he said.
The spokesman said that Deputy Commissioner and SSP have looked into the matter and also ensured all possible steps in the ambit of the law.
