JAMMU, Dec 21: 160 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today unveiled Shaheed Havaldar Subhash Chandra’s statue at Government Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor, from where he did his schooling.
Shaheed Subhash Chandra was born on March 13, 1965 at village Sungal of Akhnoor tehsil in Jammu district. After doing his schooling from GHSS Akhnoor, he was recruited as a Constable in CRPF in the year 1985. He laid his life for the Nation and the State on November 23, 2005 while fighting with the terrorists at Firdous Cinema Hall attack in Srinagar while his deployment in 96 Battalion, CRPF.
The statue of Shaheed Subhash Chandra was formally unveiled by the chief guest, Rajeev Sharma, MLA Akhnoor, along with Inspector General of CRPF, Jammu Sector, AV Chauhan. While speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Sharma said that installation of the statue of a martyr in a school will proved to be a milestone in igniting patriotism in the hearts of students and local populace.
Poli Devi, the wife of Shaheed Subhash, Rakesh Sethi, DIG (Ops), Jammu North, CRPF, Joginder Singh, DIG CRPF, Sunaina Mehta, SDM Akhnoor, Jagdeep Kumar Padha, Principal, GHSS Akhnoor, Surendra Sahara, Commandant, 160 Battalion CRPF, hundreds of school students, local people and family members of the Shaheed were also present.
