Martyr Deepak Thusoo cremated with full State honours, thousands join procession

JAMMU, Mar 22: Mortal remains of martyr Deepak Kumar Thusoo who laid down his life while fighting the dreaded Pak terrorists in Kupwara district of Kashmir valley yesterday along with his other colleagues were consigned to flames at Jagti township Cremation Ground with full State honours. Thousands of people joined the funeral procession and paid tearful adieu to martyr Thusoo a valiant cop of JKP.
Tempers ran high when the body of martyr reached the township as all camp and heart rendering scenes were witnessed in the camp. The words fail to console the family members and relatives of martyr who were wailing and sobbing. The mother and wife of Deepak was in great shock while his children were gazing at the crowd as they could not comprehend what tragedy has befallen the family.
Besides, the camp inmates and people drawn from other parts of Jammu as well as leaders from various political and social organizations attended the funeral procession and gave a touching adieu to martyr.
Every eye was wet and heart rendering scenes were witnessed at Jagti when the body of martyr reached there.
The camp inmates took to streets and shouted slogans against Pakistan – the mother of terrorism. They demanded that the war against the terrorism should be intensified and they should be finished once for all.
The political party leaders who attended the funeral procession included NC MLA Devender Singh Rana, BJP MLCs Surinder Ambardar and Ajay Bharti, NC leader and former CS, Vijay Bakaya, Congress Migrant Cell chief, Hira Lal Pandita and its general secretary Chuni Lal Kandi, NC Minority Cell Working president,  M K Yogi, Vishaw Kashmiri Pandit Conference convener, Kiran Wattal, Sharika Peeth Sanstha chief, M K Jalali, ASKPC president Advocate Ravinder Raina, its general secretary, Dr Tej, Relief Commissioner,  M L Raina, D C Relief Sidha, SSP, Jammu Vivek Gupta, Dy SP Nagrota, SHO Nagrota and all camp inmates including a sizable number of women.
The mourners also blocked Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Jagti in protest against the growing terrorism in the State. They also shouted slogans like Pakistan Murdabad, Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Vandey Matram, Deepak Thusoo Amar Rahey.
Earlier Naeem Akhtar  Minister for Public Works, led the Civil and Police officers in laying the floral tributes on the mortal remains of martyr SGCT Deepak Thusoo at District Police Lines here.
Ghulam Nabi Lone, Minister for Agriculture Production, MLAs Sat Sharma,  Ravinder Raina, Rajesh Gupta,  Devender Rana, B.B Vyas, Chief Secretary, R.K Goyal, Principal Secretary, Home, Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary to CM, H.K Sharma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, V.K Singh, Special DG, Ab. Gani Mir, ADGP CID, S.D. Singh Jamwal, IGP Jammu, Jagjit Kumar, IGP (Tech.), Surinder Kumar, Director SSG,  Yoginder Koul, IGP (Retd.) and other senior civil and police officers were present and paid tributes. The mortal remains of martyr were brought today from Srinagar where wreath laying was also held at DPL Srinagar today morning.
Martyr SGCT Deepak Thusoo attained martyrdom while fighting with terrorists in Kupwara.
The martyr is survived by aged mother, wife, minor children about 12 years son and about 7 years daughter and an unmarried sister.
Army today paid befitting tribute to three of its comrades who attained martyrdom during Counter Terrorist operations at Kupwara district yesterday in which five militants were eliminated. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the martyrs on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyrs.
Late Hav Jorabar Singh, Nk Ranjeet Khalkho and Nk Mohd Ashraf Rather sustained bullet injuries during the fierce operation in Chack Fatheh Khan Forest in Halmatpora of Kupwara district. They were provided immediate first aid and evacuated to hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. Martyr Hav Jorabar Singh, 45 years of age, had joined Army in 1993 and hailed from Village Rait in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. He is survived by his wife and three children.
Coming from Village Dudhakhuti in Ranchi, Jharkhand, the martyr Nk Ranjeet Khalkho was 33 years old and had joined Army in 2001. He is survived by his parents, a brother and three sisters.
Martyr Nk Mohd Ashraf Rather was 35 years in age and had joined the Army in 2004. He belonged to Village Reshigund of Kralpora in Jammu and Kashmir and is survived by his wife and a daughter.
The mortal remains of the martyrs were flown for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved families of the martyrs and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
