JAMMU, Aug 12: Senior Advocate, former president, J&K High Court Bar Association and chairman, AIIMS Coordination Committee, Abhinav Sharma today said that Marh block is lacking basic facilities despite being close to Jammu City.
“Marh Block is a rural constituency and nearest to the winter capital of the State, yet it has remained undeveloped. Proper educational facilities are lacking in Marh Block on account of which students of the Block are deprived of the Higher Education”, he said and demanded immediate establishment of a full-fledged degree college in Marh Block.
Advocate Sharma said this while addressing a series of public meetings in various villages of Block Marh i.e. Patnial, Patiale Chack and Ghou Manhasan. He also stressed for making Community Health Centre Marh fully functional by posting senior doctors and adequate paramedical staff, in the absence of which entire Marh Block is suffering, as for minor treatment people from Marh Block have to visit Government Medical College, Jammu, which is already over burdened and over-crowded.
He also called upon Central and the State Government to declare the border villages of Marh Block as Actual Line of Control as there is frequent firing and shelling from across the border on account of which not only the people have to migrate frequently, but the education of the students has also suffered immensely.
The former J&K Bar president also stated that there are neither any library not sports facility for the students in any village of Block Marh due to which Marh Block remained neglected. He further demanded immediate replacement of outdated and damaged transformers in various villages of Marh Block and replacement of electric wires.
He also demanded construction of a cold storage in block Marh, so that people who are primarily dependent upon agriculture only, can preserve their produce for a longer period of time.
Advocate Sharma also took strong exception to the conventional working style of elected representatives of the Block, as they have failed to raise the important issues, particularly on the educational front and irrigation facilities.
He requested the people of Marh to reject these leaders, who remained incompetent and befooled them time and again by making false promises.
