SRINAGAR, Sept 13:
Several roads were cut-off with district headquarters Kargil following flash flood due to heavy rains for the past four days, inundating a number of areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
Some civilian and Army temporary structures were damaged in the floods, which also bring lot of mud.
However, there was no report of any casuality in the floods.
Reports reaching here today said due to heavy overnight rains, several roads connecting the outskirts to Kargil town were snapped because of more than four feet of mud accumulated near Iqbal bridge.
Traffic from these areas, including Baroo to town has been suspended and diverted through bypass road from Poyen.
Biaqpae Lungma, a small stream from Baroo mountain, was over flowing, which also brings mud and heavy stones from the top.
About 500 meters of road was under more than four feet of mud, the report said adding disrupting traffic movement.
The flood also washed away some temporary infrastructures of local people and Army upto the river Suru.
The executive officer of Kargil Municipality Sajjad Hussain Munshi visited the affected areas early this morning alongwith civil and Army officials.
The district administration has pressed into service machines to clear the mud on the road.
Traffic has been diverted through bypass from Poyen, which also witnessed heavy traffic jams. (UNI)
