During the meeting, people apprised Dr Manohar Lal Sharma of their grievances. They told the Congress leader that the ration which has to be provided on BPL quota on priority basis is being provided under APL quota deliberately. They said for getting ration they are told to provide their income certificates and when they approach for income certificates in respective departments they are being issued income certificates of Rs 72,000 per annum thus removing them from BPL list by increasing their annual income on papers.
Dr Sharma gave warning to local administration, CAPD department and revenue officials to restrain from such practice and assured people that he and congress party is standing with the poor people and even warned of starting an agitation if issue not resolved at the earliest.
Later, Manohar visited shrine of Mata Sukrala and prayed for peace, prosperity and well being of the State and the nation. During the visit a delegation of local priests of temple along with devotees apprised Dr Sharma of the problems being faced by them. Priests complained that their wages are pending since one year, thus forcing them to lead a miserable life.
Dr Sharma urged Deputy Commissioner Kathua to look into the matter so that the priests can get their wages at the earliest. He also asked him to ensure completion of pending and ongoing projects under Mata Sukrala Shrine Board.
