KATHUA, Mar 18: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today inaugurated the newly constructed Garniari Circular road and Kishanpur link road completed at a cumulative cost of Rs 35 lakh.
Addressing the people after dedicating the newly constructed road links, he said that Government was keen to provide road connectivity to rural and far off areas for which several projects have been taken up. He said the Government was focusing on the equitable development of rural areas of the state.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma also convened a Public Grievance Camp at Garniari to listen to the problems and demands of the people.
Various deputations from the area including Garniari and Amala Panchayats, besides elected Panchayat representatives presented their demands related to provision for safe drinking water, veterinary dispensary, up gradation of Middle School, Amala, blacktopping of Amala- Dhamaal road, pending payments under MGNREGA etc.
Responding to the demands , Dr Manohar Lal Sharma assured people that their demands will be considered on priority basis. He said that the Government has decided to clear up the pendency of widow, handicaped and old age pension cases in one go. He said work on proposed Garniari tubewell would be taken up in next financial year. He assured that the blacktopping of Amala- Dhmaal road would be taken up very shortly. He further said that more teachers will be provided under RMSA to meet the shortage of staff in rural and far off schools.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma directed BDO Barnoti to submit the progress report of two years of the works taken up under MGNREGA. He directed the PHE Department to make provision for the water tanker in wake of scarcity of drinking water in any area of the block.
