Manmohan tours border villages, takes stock of people’s grievances

JAMMU, Mar 14: Ch Manmohan Singh, President AIJMS J&K, along with his team, today toured Samba Border area and visited border villages, including Barota, Ramgarh, Raipur, Pangdour, Sordi and Glaat.
He was also accompanied by Ch Darshan Singh, BDC Chairman Ramgarh, some Sarpanches and ex-Sarpanches, including Ch Prempal, Tejinder Singh, Ch Omprakash, Mohan Singh Bhatti, Reena Choudhary and few other Biradari leaders.
Ch Manmohan Singh and his team interacted with the residents of this area and listen to their issues. The residents asked Ch Manmohan Singh to raise their concern over not receiving any kind of compensation for the loss of their crops. “It has been more than a year and still they have received no word from authorities,” they said and also asked him to put forward their concern for the rents of pump set in field.
“For the last two years, because of the indefinite rains, we have not been able to use these pump sets, but the rent for the same and the electricity bills are piling on,” the villagers said and also complained to Ch Manmohan Singh about the working of Revenue Deptt, which takes years for transfer of the Girdwari of the land to the successor after death of the family head. Further, they alleged that the compensation files for displaced person of 1965 and 1971 war, have not been forwarded and people were unaware as to the status of the current whereabouts of their files.
Ch Manmohan Singh asked the residents to be patient and give him some time to get in touch with the concerned authorities for the redressal of their issues. He asked the people to remain united for their common issues and genuine demands. “With the right approach and unity, we can get all our issues addressed,” he stressed.
Ch Sham Lal, District President Samba AIJMS, Capt Tirath Singh, tehsil president Samba AIJMS, Ch Rashpal, Ch Ghaar Singh, Ch Tara Chand, Mohan Choudhary, Surinder Choudhary and others also accompanied Ch Manmohan Singh.
