Mankotia threatens stir for restoration of DMU service

UDHAMPUR, Feb 7: Balwant Singh Mankotia, former MLA and  State president of JKNPP, has  demand immediately restoration of DMU Service  from Jammu to Udhampur and threatened a stir if the demand is not conceded  within 10 days.
Addressing media persons, here today, the JKNPP leader informed that he  had already  submitted a memorandum last week to the DTM to restore the services of the DMU but nothing had been realized on the ground so far.  There was a spare DMU at the Ferozepur Headquarters (Northern Railway) but it was sent to Kashmir last week as a ‘standby’ to a currently functional Railway service, he disclosed adding that  the recently sent DMU was lying idle in Kashmir while people of Udhampur District are suffering and facing grave inconvenience and discomfort during their routine commutation because of the cancellation.
Mr Mankotia said that this is one of the biggest examples of discrimination with Jammu Pradesh that on one side people of Jammu Udhampur are demanding for restoration of DMU service for the last one month, on the other hand standby DMU has been sent to Kashmir by Railway Deptt.
Mankotia lamented that apart from socio-political discrimination meted out to Jammu Pradesh, the people are also made to suffer at the luxury of Kashmir in other spheres as well.  He warned  the  Railways  authorities and served an ultimatum of 10 days for restoration of DMU service or face a stir.
Mankotia also reminded the Prime Minister  Narendra  Modi  that the latter during his visit to Katra last year had promised more trains from different part of county up to Katra but nothing has been done as of now.
