SAMBA, Sept 26: Apni Party, provincial president, Jammu, Manjit Singh has demanded political reservation for Other Backward Class (OBC) people in J&K.
“All political parties discriminated OBC people in J&K by denying them their constitutional right of 27 per cent reservation which left these people backward and politically orphaned,” Manjit Singh claimed while speaking at a meeting of OBC people organised by OBC state coordinator, Madan Lal Chalotra in which district committee of OBC was also announced.
Singh said that OBC people were ignored by previous Governments.
“They are treated as Other Social Castes (OSCs) in J&K while at national level, they are OBCs. Hence, they have to make two certificates which is gross discrimination with these people,” he maintained adding that the Government should give them political reservation so that they can elect their MLAs to raise their voice in Legislative Assembly.
Meanwhile, Madan Lal Chalotra said, they will continue their struggle for the rights of OBCs.
“Apni Party is committed to give OBC people their rights on coming to power,” he claimed flaying the political parties which ruled J&K but forgot OBC people who voted them to power.
