JAMMU, Apr 23: Manjit Singh, general secretary, Pradesh Youth Congress today strongly criticized the GREF authority for not completing the under construction Akhnoor-Jourian road on which work was in progress for the last two and a half years and demanded its early completion.
People of whole area are facing great difficulties to run on the road but no action has been taken by the GREF officers, despite several requests made by the people of the area, Singh said.
He further said that the people have fed up with the false commitment made by the GREF authorities and now the people have decided to start indefinite strike against GREF authority.
He demanded the attention of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to look into the matter seriously and take appropriate steps to complete the road immediately and fulfilled the genuine demands of the people of the area.
Manjeet Singh also demanded the widening and four laning of the Jammu – Akhnoor Road as early as possible in view of increasing traffic due to which accident occurs in routine on the road claiming several precious lives.
Among others present were Vivek Gupta, Kamaljeet singh, Lucky Singh, Raj Kumar, Ranjeet Singh, Parveen Choudhary, Manjot Singh, Manmohan Singh and Kuldeep Kumar.
