RAJOURI, May 12: The Joint Action Committee of Manjakote, leading a strike for the last 19 days in support of their demand for Degree College and SDM post called off strike after meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
Official sources said that Dy Commisioner, Dr Shahid convened a meeting with JAC and local residents of Manjakote today. He impressed upon the prominent citizens that any such demand requires a ground work and proper projection before the Government.
He assured the JAC that feasibility report for establishment of college will have to be prepared which is a time taking process along with proposal for transfer of acquisition of land. Citing the example of Darhal and Doongi, he asked the people to cooperate in projection at appropriate level in the Government.
The demand for post of SDM was also discussed threadbare. The DDC underlined that in view of long stretch of LoC requiring mobilisation of resources due to frequent ceasefire violation it’s a genuine demand and proper projection will be made to Government through proper channel.
He assured that outcome of feasibility report and report on public demand for post of SDM will be submitted to Government in a month’s time. The JAC called off it’s 19 days long strike after meeting ended successfully.
Assistant Commissioner, Revenue Abdul Qayoom Mir , XEn PHE Nissar Khan, XEn PDD Munshi Khan, XEn PMGSY, CEO Lal Hussain, Tehsildar Sheraz Ahmed , SDPO Dr Imtiaz, BDO Abid Hussain and other officers were also present during the meeting.
