JAMMU, Sept 23: Member of Parliament (MP) Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas while speaking on Jammu and Kashmir Languages Bill 2020 raised the demand for announcing holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
It is pertinent to mention here that this issue has been repeatedly raised by various organizations of J&K.
Manhas targeted senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Member, Ghulam Nabi Azad for having done nothing for the people of Jammu although he too belongs to Jammu region.
He then took a dig on senior Congress leader, Dr. Karan Singh for remaining mum over the issues of Dogri language and Dogra culture.
Manhas hailed the efforts of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah for taking bold steps regarding J&K in the recent past followed by the important Bill on Languages.
“We are expecting more developments to boost the confidence of people especially to promote other regional languages and cultural identity of the area,” the MP maintained.
