JAMMU, May 6: A man allegedly ended his life by immolating himself in Nomian area, falling under the jurisdiction of Katra police station.
As per police sources, 40-year-old Neel Kumar, son of Behari Lal, a resident of Nomian, tehsil Katra set himself ablaze by pouring some inflammable substance late last night.
Family members rushed to his rescue, doused the flames and shifted him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to his burn injuries this morning.
The body has been handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal formalities.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at police station Katra and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind such extreme step.
