JAMMU, Oct 6: Police today arrested a man for killing his father over the issue of gold chain.
As per sources, on September 18 this year, unidentified male body was recovered from the canal at Raipur-Gujran in RS Pura.
Based on this, inquest proceeding under Section 174 CrPC was initiated by RS Pura and during enquiry, it was found that the body was wrapped in a bed sheet and had been tied with an electric cable from head to toe.

Consequent thereupon, the inquest was converted into a case which was registered under FIR Number 171/19 and Sections 302 and 201 RPC with Police Station RS Pura and the investigation started.
The identity of the deceased was established on September 26 as Vijay Kumar, son of Des Raj of Chak Bana, tehsil Bishnah, district Jammu.
Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted by SP Headquarters Jammu Farooq Qaiser which was headed by Sheema Nabi Qasba, Additional SP RS Pura and assisted by SHO Bishnah Inspector Deepak Pathania and SHO RS Pura Inspector Rajeshwar Singh.
The SIT rounded up several suspected persons and put them to thorough questioning. Police finally arrested victim’s son Tarun Kumar (24), as both father and son were not having good relations. During questioning, victim’s son broke down and confessed that he killed his father over gold chain.
While interacting with media persons, SP Headquarters Jammu Farooq Qaiser said on the intervening night of September 12 and 13, the father-son duo had a fight at their residence over a gold chain belonging to Tarun which had been taken by his father.
Following the arguments, Tarun beat his father to death, and next day put his body in his car and dumped it in a canal at village Dharab-Satwari, Qaiser said, adding that Tarun has been arrested.
On Tarun’s disclosures, the police also recovered the battery and the memory card of the mobile phone used by his father along with the vehicle used by him for disposing the body, the SP said, adding that the accused had also thrown his father’s mobile phone along with its SIM card in the same canal.
Further investigation in the case is going on the SP stated.
