Man drowns in Tawi River

RAJOURI, Nov 10: A young man today died of drowning in Tawi River at Naagpur area of Nowshera tehsil.
According to the reports, the deceased identified as Madassar Azad, son of Mohd Hussain, resident of Gursai, along with four other persons was on his way from Surankote to Jammu in a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK02BH-7428, when at about 3 pm they stopped at Naagpur near an Army camp to have some refreshment at a shop.
After taking some snacks and drinks, Madassar allegedly went to take bath in Tawi River flowing nearby. However, he could not judge the depth of the river and washed away by the water. Hearing his cries for help, others rushed for his help and fished him out from the river. In unconscious condition, he was rushed to Government Hospital, Nowshera, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem while inquest proceedings initiated by Nowshera police in the case.
