KATHUA, Feb 3: A man allegedly committed suicide, while a lady made an abortive attempt to end her life, here today.
As per police sources, a man identified as 48-year-old Kaku Din, son of Bakar Din, a resident of Haji Colony, District Kathua allegedly consumed some poisonous substance this evening.
Finding him unconscious, family members rushed him to District Hospital, from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he failed to respond to the treatment and breathed his last.
The body will be handed over to family members for last rites after conducting autopsy tomorrow.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Meena Devi, wife of Rocky, a resident of Chak Drab Khan inhaled some poisonous substance to end her life.
Noticing him unconscious, family members rushed her to District Hospital, where her condition was stated to be stable, when reports last came in.
Kathua police has taken cognizance in both the cases.
